"NCATE [National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education] is the profession's mechanism to help establish high quality teacher preparation. Through the process of professional accreditation of schools, colleges and departments of education, NCATE works to make a difference in the quality of teaching and teacher preparation today, tomorrow and for the next century." (NCATE) Lipscomb University's Teacher Education program is fully accredited by both NCATE and the Tennessee State Board of Education .

The last accreditation visit from NCATE was in the Spring 2004. In preparation for this visit, the Education Department has created what is called "electronic exhibit rooms". "Electronic Exhibit rooms are webpages that are specially designed to display table, charts, graphs, candidate work samples, faculty vitae, and other exhibits that serve as evidence that an institution is meeting NCATE standards."  (NCATE) This allowed the team to view our documentation prior to visiting campus.  Then on February 26, 2004 the team of education professionals came to our campus for four days.  At the end of the visit, they were very complementary of our work.

Finally, in the fall of 2004, we received the official word that we were fully accredited.  The next accreditation visit from NCATE will be in the Spring 2011.
